Type 304, 305 or 316 Stainless Steel. All three grades of stainless steel are nickel/chromium and all are non-magnetic.

Type 304 stainless meets virtually all requirements except repeated exposure to sea water.

Type 305 stainless also meets virtually all requirements. Has more resistance than 304 and is especially resistant to the tanning produced by Cedar and other lumber. But for a harsh coastal environment it is better to use 316 SS.

Type 316 is better in a coastal or harsh environment since it contains more nickel as well as 2% to 3% molybdenum, giving it superior corrosion resistance.

All of the above grades are a major advance over other commercial choices.
